도자기와 꽃을 보면 나는 강한 생명력을 얻는다. 아마도 신은 고달픈 삶에 감동을 줄 목적으로
신이 꽃을 창조했을 것이다. 특히 어릴 적 노닐던 고향 골목길에서 항상 나를 반기던 개나리, 담
장 안의 목련, 뒷동산에 아련히 점점이 물들어 있던 진달래, 그리고 이 꽃들을 쉼 없이 오가는 나
비를 생각하면 중년의 나는 어느새 다시 소녀가 되어 그림을 그린다.
도자기는 대학에서 도예를 전공하며, 청춘을 같이한 벗이다. 그 시절 나는 도자기와 지성의 대
화를 나누고 역사를 이야기했다. 도자기의 뛰어난 조형미와 우아한 실용성은 내 그림의 영원한
소재다.
나는 이 도자기와 어린 시절 맡았던 꽃들의 생생한 향기를 캔버스에 담아내고 싶다. 그것은 자칫
잊혀질 수 있는 순수의 세계이며, 젊은 날 꿈꾸던 이상의 세계다. 나는 그 세계로 돌아가는 통로
를 그림에서 찾았고, 항상 여행을 떠난다.
다양한 재료를 사용하여 조형적 특성을 살릴 수 있도록 부조형태의 도자기에 꽃, 나무, 새, 물
