Glority of life 생의 찬미 -방랑자의 동화적일기-
그동안 ‘생의 찬미(生の賛美 )’ 시리즈 작품은 일본 유학 시절부터 경험해 왔던 것을 회화적으로 표현한 것이라면 이번 “방랑자의 동화적일기”시리즈 작품은 외국에 살면서 여행을 통해 흡수했던 감정들을 캔버스에 녹여낸 작품들이다.
나는 지금까지 일본에서 생의 반평생이라고 해도 과언이 아닐 정도로 한국과 일본을 오가면서 방랑자와 같은 삶을 살아 왔다. 항상 새로운 예술감성을 갈망했기 때문에 일본을 비롯하여 베트남 중국, 미국, 유럽등을 여행 했다.
모르는 곳에 모르는 사람들과 얼굴을 마주치면서 언제인가 한 번쯤 본듯한 얼굴을 마주 보는 것 같기도 하고 서로 다른 곳을 보고 있는 것 같지만 삶은 결국 한곳으로 모인다. 슬픔과 기쁨도 한곳으로 모인다. 여러 삶이 겹쳐지면 결국 그것이 우리의 삶일 것이다.
나의 원시적인 기억속에서 붉게 타오르는 삶은 어느새 고독을 껴안고 있었다. 양지를 향해 걸어 가지만 언제나 햇살만은 존재하지 않는다. 얼마를 가야 하는지 아무도 모른다. 뉴욕의 모더니즘과 파리의 아름다움이 어느새 지적 허영심이 되어 캔버스에 녹아든다. 어디선가 어릴 때 들었던 익숙한 멜로디에 반복하는 색채의 울림에 나를 밀어 넣고 나 자신도 모르게 붓질이 어디서 끝날지 모르는 생을 찬미한다.
아무리 걸어도 닿을 수 없는 세상의 모든 길, 더 이상 갈 곳이 없을 때 외로움을 이용해 걸어간다. 온몸에 바람이 스쳐 간 흔적들은 마음의 상처를 만들고 그라피티로 남았다. 부드러운 시간들이 만들어 낸 삶의 질량을 색으로 변화시키니 사치스런 색만 남았다. 진하게 산미를 풍기는 커피가 좋을 때가 있듯이 캔버스위에 그 순간 즉흥적인 감정에 충실히 채움과 비움을 반복하는 것 또한 삶이다.
