<작가노트>

작년 가을 이번 개인전에 대해 기획하고 논의 하던 일이 엇 그제 같건만 벌써 아득한 기억으로 떠오르고 있는건, 분명 이유가 있을 터이고,, 절기상으론 한겨울의 정점을 조금 지나고 있어 약간은 추위가 느슨해질 즈음이지만, 작년말 연이어서 터진 청치,사회적인 초대형 악재로 인한 황당함과 불안함이 온 세상을 올가미에 가두어 놓고 있는 형국이다. 한껏 아름다워야 할 봄조차도 불안함과 옥죄임으로 다가 올 것 있지만, 반면 위기를 통해 자신을 성찰할 기회가 될 것 임은 분명하며. 이렇듯 엄중하고 혼란스런 세상에 저 자신을 비롯한 우리 모두가 겪고 있을 답답함에 대한 위안과 치유를 작업을 통해 생각한다. 

약 2년반 전 코로나팬데믹이 한창일 때 무료한 일상을 달래기 위해 무심히 시작했던 미술이 나의 인생의 후반전을 이렇게 후끈 달구어 낼지는 누구도 예상못했고,, 이는 분명 내스스로 발견치 못한 신의 섭리라고 생각하면서,, 주변의 칭찬과 격려, 질투와 우려를 가녀린 몸뚱이, 정신력으로 버텨내며, 길지 않은 시간동안 400여점의 유명화가들의 모사작품들과 100여점의 창작그림을 그려가며 그간 5차례의 소소한 전시기회를 가짐으로써, 그전 보다는 좀더 객관적인 냉정하고 이성적인 시각으로 미술계의 현실과 미래비전까지를 목도하는 단계에 한발 더 다가선 느낌이다. 

처음 ‘배짱이’라는 필명의 의도를 잘 모르는 지인들이 철자법이 틀린 것 아닌거 아니냐는 지적에 굴하지 않고 그야말로 “배짱”으로 밀어 붙였더니 이젠 어느정도 미술계에서나, SNS상에서 통하는 필명이 된것도, 전혀 다소 엉똥하고 창의적인 중의적인 발상을 그대로 밀어붙인 결과물이 아닌가 싶다,,  혹시라도 지금 이런 어수선하고 삶이 팍팍한 시기에  전시회를 하느냐는 다소 곱지 않은 시선이 있음에도 불구하고 우직하게 밀어 나가는 것은 적록색약이라는 화가로서는 치명적 약점을 장점으로 승화시키고자 하는 나와 내가 믿는 신의 섭리에 대한 화답이라고 생각하며 주변의 어수선한 감정들은 잘 가지 쳐 내가기 위해서 오히려 좀더 붓을 움켜진 손목에서 약간은 힘을 빼며 하루하루를 살아내고 있다.
