내면의 풍경, 뜻밖의 마주침
나는 작업 과정 속에서 자유로운 표현을 따라가며, 의도하지 않았던 우연적 효과들이 만들어내는 매력을 경험해왔다. 이러한 순간들은 앞으로 전개될 작업에 대한 호기심과 기대를 불러일으킨다. 매 순간 내면의 역동에 몸과 마음을 맡긴 채 캔버스 위에 자유롭게 반응하는 행위는, 나를 새로운 조형의 세계로 이끈다.
이 작업들은 특정한 주제나 명확한 소재에 의존하지 않는다. 대신 예측할 수 없는 색의 조합과 행위의 흔적들이 화면 위에 축적되며, 그 자체로 미적 조형성을 탐색하는 실험이 된다. 그러나 이 실험은 단순히 무의미한 우연의 효과에 머무르지 않는다. 그것은 내면의 신호에 반응하며 형성된 외부 세계와의 교신이기도 하다.
때로 이러한 표현은 의미 없는 분절음처럼 스쳐 지나가기도 하고, 때로는 ‘쿵’, ‘쾅’ 하는 강한 울림으로 다가오며, 혹은 간결하고 직접적인 메시지로 전달되기도 한다. 작업을 이어가는 동안 주체와 객체의 경계가 흐려지며, 오히려 작품이 나를 이끌고 가는 듯한 감각을 경험하기도 한다.
이처럼 작품과 나 사이의 교감을 주고받으며, 나는 더욱 담대한 표현의 자유를 향한 모험을 시작했다. 그것은 우연과 감각, 내면과 외부 세계가 맞닿는 지점에서 펼쳐지는 탐험의 과정이다.
Inner Landscape: Unexpected Encounters
In my creative process, I am profoundly fascinated by unintended effects—those accidental moments born from the trajectory of free expression. These “unexpected encounters” ignite a sense of curiosity and anticipation for what will unfold next on the canvas. The joy of surrendering my body and mind to the inner dynamics of each moment leads me into an entirely new realm of plastic form.
My work is a continuous experiment, free from specific themes or fixed subject matter. While it builds aesthetic structures through the harmony of unexpected colors and the traces of physical gestures, this experimentation never rests on meaningless chance. Rather, it is a form of “communication” with the outer world, guided by internal signals. At times, it manifests as fragmented, unintelligible whispers; at others, as a powerful resonance—a “thump” or a “crash”—or perhaps as a simple, direct message.
There are moments when the roles of subject and object seem to reverse, and the artwork begins to lead me. Engaging in this intimate dialogue with the piece, I have embarked on an exploratory journey through my inner landscapes toward an even bolder and more courageous freedom of expression.
